Federal wage and hour laws are found mainly in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and some states, like Massachusetts, have expanded those rules. Employers must adhere to both federal and state laws.
How many hours an employee works in a week and how much that employee is paid for that time is at the heart of wage and hour law. Disputes can often arise when employers’ policies run afoul of established law, especially regarding:
